Sassanid Persian 15mm DBA Army

Over Easter I managed to finish painting a Sassanid DBA army that I've been working on (on and off) for nearly 2 years.  Aside from being interested in the army of Shaper I itself, I'm a big fan of AB Miniatures so have worked my way through their ancient ranges (these, plus the Classical Greeks - shame that they don't do more).

The photos below show the army (Book II/69b - 225 - 493 AD) with all the options.  The Asavaran bow and lance cavalry can be swapped for elephants, horse archers, psiloi, or Dailami/Hillmen auxilia.

Carthaginian 10mm DBA Army

Have finally managed to finish painting a Carthaginian DBA army in 10mm scale.  The figures are by Pendraken and were a Christmas present from Andy (Christmas 2018 that is!).  I scaled up the bases to put more figures on per base.

Alexandrian Imperial DBA Army

Finally got round to posting these photos of a Macedonian army that I gave David as a birthday present in November 2017.  At his request, these form an 'Alexandrian Imperial' DBA army - representing the army of Alexander at the height of his power following his conquest of Persia.  The Macedonian troops wear more regular uniforms with some Eastern elements (for example, some of the pikemen now wear trousers).  The 15mm figures are by Xyston Miniatures, painted in acrylics and gloss varnished.

The next couple of elements for the Carthaginian DBA Army - Hannibal's war elephants.  The figures are 15mm Essex Miniatures.

Classical Indian Elephants

Having got back into DBA after the summer, I've started to paint a Classical Indian army based on Xyston 15mm miniatures.  The first 3 elements are the General and 2 other Elephants.  I made one of the other Elephants a Subordinate General in case I expand the army later for Field of Glory (unlikely, but perhaps one day...).  The figures are painted in acrylics and gloss varnished.
